Just as with human doctors some are not good, the same thing goes for vets . Some are excellent others can be and often are completely and totally wrong!. There is much less regulation with a veterinary then with a MD as well. Many have an I know better then though attitude. A good vet will admit he does not know what is wrong, a good vet will state to you he or she may not know,a good vet will welcome a second opinion, a good vet will not jump into surgery without thorough research. A good vet will not order expensive blood tests or X-rays for a little fever or throwing up.. dogs get flues, cold, aches and pains, growing pains , strained muscles and ligaments, they throw up get fevers, coughs and get just down right sick sometimes just like humans. A good vet will normally tell you give the symptoms a day or two to clear if they do not then bring your pet in! when they get the flue or a cold there is nothing the vet can do anyway. Removing an organ on a 6 month old puppy because he is throwing up is just not smart! It is a way for that vet to get lots of money for a simple flue. and yes the puppy kept throwing up for a week after because he had a flue and it took a week to pass -not a bad organ, yes some vets are indeed that bad!

Vets used to say feed your puppy less. lower fat lower protein , don't exercise allot carry them up and down stairs ect... well jeeze I felt I I needed to force that expression out of my breeding dogs to eliminate HD so I feed my growing puppies all they wanted to eat gave them cottage cheese lots of calcium, and exercise tons of it all the time, guess what my hips got better instead of worse -dogs were healthier from puppies to old age less sickness less growing pains less strained ligaments , less HD by far... Now most vets are saying the same thing I have for years.. feed em up exercise as much as possible. Many breeders have been saying the same thing for years now the vets are finally catching up.

On Hips I have had calls from distraught puppy buyers stating my vet says my dog has severe dysplasia and he needs surgery those that have called me first. I have them send the hip x-rays to OFA 75% or at least well over half do not have HD according to OFA! even from so called vet surgeons or specialists! I have had vets say severe -same x-rays sent in by their vet or owner not by me at all find out the vet was totally wrong! OFA - good hips! Surgery on hips is major only hips rated severe by OFA should even consider hip replacement surgery what ever you do send those xrays to OFA first they are your second opinion!

Had a female here for breeding she was bleeding the owners thought she was in heat. I took one look at her, I said she has an infection she is not in heat the blood was thick and black, they took the dog to the vet , vet said she was in heat no infection the next week brought her back still thick and black I said no she needs to go to the vet, again went back vet says no infection and even called me to yell at me saying I was stupid. because, I had told them I would not breed the dog it had an infection and she was just in a normal heat so I said OK .They brought her to me three weeks after the first time blood was thicker blacker dog was lethargic . So the people are angry I tell them take her to my vet I will pay for it if the dog is not sick and breed her right there at the vets office! Sure enough with out even doing a swab my vet nows the dog has a severe pymetra infection and she needs to be spayed within a few hours or she will die! They left her there and she was spayed that day and slowly but did recover. Yes some vets are that bad.
